C230 Automatic roll back

I recently bought 2006 C230 automatic and I was shocked to know that it rolls back if you stop going uphill. I brought this up to two dealers and they said its normal. Infact, I narrowly escaped an accident yesterday on an uphill in a parking lot when my car rolled back 10 meters or so. Is it normal?

Thanks in advance.

A simple way to find out if the dealer(s) are right, would be to compare your car to another 2007 C230.

P.S. FWIW, the 722.9 seven-speed transmission doesn't use one-way roller clutches like the 722.6. :)

And if you're using the transmission, rather than the brake, to hold your car on a hill, you should'nt be driving.

Why did they put that feature on the car and advertise it if you are not supposed to use it? I am speaking of the earlier versions that had the feature such as my 98. I thought it was a little odd at first but it works fine.

The " Hill- hold " feature is just another gimmick.
