84 W123 Front End Rebuild
I have a nice rust free W123. I have the engine out of it at this time. Probably won't put it back in untill next summer. In the mean time I plan to do the front end. Looks like it will need most everything. My question concerns the "Guide Rod assemblies. They look good, but should I take them off to inspect them? What should I look for? The car has 240,000 miles and much of the front end rubber is in very bad shape. It has taken a lot of sun and heat, not much snow and ice. In the couple hours of driving I was able to do on it, before the transmission quit, the front end seemed nice and tight and drove very well, though a bit stiff on ride. It looks like it might have replacement front coils as the car is higher in the front then my 85 by more then an inch. Also paint codes show very clear on both front coils. I do plan to change all ball joints and all bushings.
