HELP!! 560 sel hesitation when accelerating
My '86 560 sel hesitates when I accelerate from a stop. To me, it almost acts like a carburetted car that is out of time. The best way to describe it, is a "bogging out and sputtering" sensation, Once it's moving, it accelerates smoothly, but repeats the problem once it comes to a stop.
I have also noticed that the it sometimes takes a while to start, (many cranks), and I cannot help but think that I still do not have the power I once had.
I have 130K at the moment, and have replaced all the intake manifold gaskets, vaccuum hoses, fuel distributor and EHA valve (taken off a known good runner). I have also replaced the OVP, and fuel pump relay, along with the idle speed relay and temperature switch. The replacement of the OVP and fuel pump realay helped things quite a bit, as the car had little power, and a much poorer idle. Still, it's not completely right.
I have checked to make sure that the crank and distributor are aligned at TDC, and I have great spark as well. I am wondering if perhaps something like a crank sensor, or faulty throttle switch would create such problems.
This car ran great, with some intermittant idle issues (occasional shake), and had plenty of power. It seems it all went to hell from one day to the next, so I cannot help but think something electrical.
For grins, I will change the injector seals and nozzels, but I have not noticed a change in idle when spraying chemtool on the injectors.
Any suggestions, greatly appreciated.
