having problems with interior lighting, the climate control lights and the center console lights window switches and such do not light up

Check fuses first, and possibly replace them all. It's cheap insurance, as visually, non functional ones may seem okay.
By the way, unless you have a rare, one-of-a-kind Mercedes, it's a 190E... |
