MB 97 E420 Blower Motor- Resistor Problem
 

The whole heater unit was updated by MB, so I have to buy the newer version. Do anybody knows a shop that can fix the problem under $1000 around Ann Arbor, MI area?

Takes a competent technician less that an hour....can you purchase the parts for less than $900?

i was told parts cost bout $900 + 3hrs labor ($95)

MB flat rate is .9 hrs w/o any diagnostic charge.

This is not a difficult job. I can do it in the time that MBDOC mentioned.

Is the motor bad or only the regulator? If regulator, some have spliced a W140 regulator (it's sold separately) as a retrofit. Searching (W210 reg.) will yield applicable threads.

The regulator went bad, and the new version one can't fit in the older part assy

CHeck with Phil at fastlane. He has someone making a replacement resistor. I think it runs about 300.00. Fairly easy to put in.. I did mine it didnt take very long

The reg you need is available separately for teh W140 chassis of the same era. Requires some splicing to make the electrical connections connect to the W210 harness.
