What possible causes for the condition in the topic?

When car starts up, everything is fine, often can even drive for a few blocks, including straight and turns. However, at some point (sometimes within a minute of starting, sometimes after a few km), the lights come on, and much decreased power steering.

Checked a fuse, ASR, 7.5A. that was fine.

Any ideas?

thank-you in advance.

additional info

after a bit of driving around, here's some other symptoms.

full left lock while stopped creates a "blip" on the speedomenter of up to 80Km/H. Not always, but this is often followed by the ASR & ABS light coming on.

The powersteering is in fact still active, but at a reduced assist.

Any information is of course, greatly appreciated.

You need to go to MB shop with MB scan equiptment & have the traction system checked for codes. Something as simple as a charging system problem can cause this.

I believe I have seen this problem once before on Mercedesshop. Try doing a search and see what you come up with... I think there should be something. I remember something similar to this. GOod luck.

I had the same experience before, but the only different is every time it happen when I start my engine. anyway, I found out my alternator was bad, the votage tester show I got 16~18 elec. output. but after I changed alternator, everything is fine now.
