what is this mysterious hose?

my car was parked outside (5F) for a few hours at a pretty steep road, and when i turned it on the "coolant low" message came on. was too cold to pop the hood open and there was no coolant on the street so i just drove home. this morning the message didn't show up, forgetting about last night i drove the car for 30 miles. then i remember to check the coolant and i saw this hose sitting right on top of the coolant reservoir (~50 cm long, 15mm diameter, part # DBL-6257.21-CONTI=03/02/21>NBR<>CR<- ). it is too cold, and i don't have a light in the garage where the car is for now, so i can't really see anything. the coolant level is fine and the car operates at normal temperature. do you guys think is ok to drive the car back home, which is 4 miles from where i am now? i plan on driving it tomorrow to my mechanic. thanx.
