Back in the drivers seat of a Benz...

Hello All,

It's been a long long time since I've been on this site. I don't remember exactly, but I think the last time I logged on here
was around early 2001 back when I had my beloved 1989 300E. Through many vehicles and years later I've jumped back
into the drivers seat of a Benz again. My father has passed down his MINT 1993 400SEL with 128K miles to me.

My father just simply didn't need the vehicle and he decided to past it down to me, knowing I'm a Mercedes enthusiast. The car at the moment seems flawless and it does have extensive records from the previous owners including my father. I really don't want to do anything to the car right now except to pick up some new floor mats. The car was updated with the 97-99 16" S-class wheels.

Would appreciate some feedback on other W140 owners with this kind of mileage and age and see what symptoms they have been having. It's good to be back on this site.

Just wondering, is Larry Bible still on this site?

Larry Bible is still here

Isn't it great to be back in a Benz?

Yes, it feels absolutely great to be back in a Benz. I've always loved the W140 when it first came out, but it was obviously expensive car at that time. In the past 7 years or so, I've been driving an Audi, BMW and Ford for a very very short time (yes, a Ford).

I've truly missed the smoothness of the older Benz's. The only thing i'm worried about is the fuel consumption (yikes, 4.0L V8) :(

The W140 is a whale so its going to suck down premium like Rosie O'Donald at an all you can eat buffet
