Sagging trunk lid hit head,but no strut seen 300e?
 

on my Volvo ,there are 2 struts holding the lid up.

On the 300e,there are 2 springs,how can I tighten them so the lid stop coming down on my head during cold weather operation like today .
During summer,seems to be fine.
Mercedesshop and Autohauz do not sell the springs.And there are no struts that are visible or for sale!

Curious...does your car have a rear spoiler? The added weight would render the OEM springs useless as far as crisp trunk raising/lowering operation.

I remember when I ordered a spoiler for my wife's prelude, it came with a thicker torsion spring to allow for the added weight at the trunk lid.

Anyway, I think there are a series of notches available to stretch the springs a bit more for additional tension.

There are several holes that the trunk spring can connect to. try moving to a hole farther back.

On my '95 E320 Wagon there are two "Airsprings" that hold the tailgate open. I think they are weaker now then they were then. What is the procedure for recharging them? I am considering using a pipe with end caps and an air hose fitting in one end. I'd put the airspring in there and fill it with high pressure air. It may leak into the airspring and recharge it. Whatdaa think?

Gas slowly disappates from shock. Gas is dependent on air temp, therefore doesn't work as well in cold vs warm temps. Time for new ones.

in lieu of gas springs, these lids use torsion springs that twist metal bars. Be careful when adjusting these, there's alot of force on them.
