1995 W124 w/104 engine Fuel Distribution Issue

Just looking for some diagnostic help with a recent problem. We own a 1995 E320 Cabrio (104 engine - fuel injected). It recently got where it doesn't want to start, but once started runs perfectly. A machanic I know told me it sounded like the fuel pressure regulator so I replaced that, but it didn't solve the problem. Would appreciate feedback from anyone with experience on this problem.

The OVP can cause alot of problems and takes a few minutes to replace. It's pretty cheap too. That should be the next thing to replace.

You get similar symptoms if the electrical connector for the engine coolant temperature sender is disconnected. Long cranking times, occasional stalling during the first minute of running. Then it runs like normal.

It would be most helpful to read the error codes. You can have it done, or build a code reader using instructions available on this site. Use the search function for 'Arthur Dalton code reader' or similar.

OVP Relay replacement solved the problem

Just want to thank Arthur Dalton, ps2cho and jcyuhn for their input. The research on the OVP relay sounded exactly like the problem we were having. Bought the relay for $32.05 delivered from MyEuroParts.com, installed it (it was pretty easy and painless) and voila!! problem solved. Many thanks. Will be looking into how to build a code reader.
