w210-windows/seats/locks/roof won't work
I was hunting down a gremlin-the rear turn signals would not work. After getting them working (not sure if by dumb luck or otherwise), the windows, seats, sunroof, interior light (as controlled by door switches) and locks (pnuematic) will not work. To make it even more confusing, when I open the passenger front door, the pass seat controls work and I can reach over to control the drivers seat. If I get in the driver side, none of the seats work, but I can close the drivers door, reach over and open the passengers and get the seats to work.
At one point I unplugged the multi-control unit behind the Bosch EFI computer (not sure of proper name). I've checked and rechecked all fuses, they're good. One final note-upon putting everthing back together, I opened the sunroof and it worked fine-but then stuck in the open posn, then nothing worked after that. any ideas what the problem is? My first guess is the CAN network is busy transmitting a request an everything is stuck, but I don't know much about this system. The car is a 96 e300d. |

Hi, welcome to the group! Do the windows move if you push the switch down slightly? And not when you press it firmly? Reason I ask is that my car needed everything synchronized when I bought it. The way it was working made me think everything was broke.
To re-synchronize the windows, press the button enough to get it moving. Keep holding it as long as it takes to fully open or fully close. When the window comes to a stop, sontinue to hold the button for 2-3 additional seconds then release. Should work again after this procedure. As for the seats, I don't know if they are re-synched the same way or not... Sorry...

thanks for the reply. I wish! no movement whatsoever. It's really odd how the seats ONLY work when the passenger door is open-it's bound to be some kind of indicator, right??
Seems I'll be making an appointment w/ the dealer |

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for 30 mins?

why 30 minutes? I've disconnected for a couple of minutes, but not longer. it's worth a shot-I'll disconnect tonight and hook back up tomorrow morning.

Have you checked the electronics? Sounds like an electric problem. I am not to familiar with your chassis but is it controlled by vacuum? If it is still controlled by vacuum like the older chassis then look for vacuum leaks.
