ASR Light and hard gear change 97 E420
 

Today, I was driving my 1997 Mercedes Benz E420 when I pulled out from a light and the ASR light came on and the fuel guage reserve started flashing. As this happened the car began to shift really hard. After a few blocks, I pulled over, turned the engine off and then back on and everything went back to normal.

Any idea what's going on here. It's the first time this has happened.

Possibly a charging system problem.

IF the traction system goes into a "limp" mode the trans will have issues as the trans computer needs speed signal from the traction system.

SHOULD be a stored code in the traction system computer
