Will installing 600SEC differential on 600SEL increase performance?

Happy new year :)

I'm thinking of installing a 600SEC 92/93 differential on my 600SEL 1992. Do you think it will help in increasing performance? And will it make difference on the speedometer? Thank you in advance.

I'm not sure about 92/93 but on newer cars, if the ratios are different it will cause the car not to run at all. I would be interested in what ratios are in both models. As far as speedometer I'm also not sure if the speed is taken from wheel speed sensors or transmission. If its wheel speed you should be OK. In any case I wouldn't expect significant gear ratio differences between the two models to make the change worthwhile.

If the ratios are the same, then there's no reason to do the switch. I think you're barking up the wrong tree; if you want more power, changing the rear end is an expensive, complicated way to do it.

If you want more power out of an M120 you need to call Renntech, Brabus, Kleeman, ect. You can probably get a chip or something for under a grand.

I Kuwait we don't have any of them. Do you have an eBay link fro them?
One more thing; how can I know the ratio of a deferential?

BTW, I already ordered this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&item=290180924124
but it didn't arrived yet. What do you think? :)

I get what seems to be a better midrange response with that chip.

That doesn't matter where do you think the oil money gets there cars done. There has got to be a ton of Brabus cars around.

Go to the website, I'm sure all of those companies will ship to the middle east.

I thought 1992s were the 409hp cars?

Also, I don't trust those chips. I bought the set from Dinan for my 750iL and the results were lackluster at best. They advertised near 30hp gain (appx 10% as the car is 296hp rated) and that's a significant gain. Gained nothing near that.

The off the shelf chips/tunes are almost always garbage.

I installed the chips and they are fine. I noticed an increase in the performance but I still need more :)
