1990 300se interior light bulb replacement

Hello all!!

I have searched and searched for info about replacing the interior light bulb in my 1990 300se. I have googled and searched this forum's data with no luck.

The owner's manual has no info on replacing the light.

Basically, the light does not come on when the front doors are opened.

The map light works, but that is it. None of the other switch positions work.

I cannot figure out how to open the translucent light panel to replace the bulb. I have already broken the fragile plastic of the rear speaker cover by barely touching it, so I am very cautious about fixing this lighting problem.

Do I have to replace the whole assembly? Or can I just learn the trick to opening the panel and put a replacement bulb in there?

Many thanks in advance and all the best!
