Nothing lasts forever go buy a set of tires and a transmission if you got cash burning a hole in your pocket!:D
I'll spend $3k a year on my car without batting an eye, but some of you guys have serious money!:D To rich for my blood, even I don't keep $300 parts in stock just because. |
If it concerns you, I'd suggest keeping a can of MAF cleaner in the trunk to buy you time until you could get a replacement if/when needed.
I replaced my orig at ~125k; the replacement now has 100k. It's not like they go out often......On the diesel it is VERY obvious when they fail; no turbo boost and can't pull more than 3k rpms + a CEL. It can't be THAT difficult to know when it fails on a gasser either..... |
The Air Mass Meter that I bought last year, cost me around $355.00.
I checked Fastlane today, it is listed for $663.46 (Dealer $1128.85) Earlier in 2007, I had priced one, and it was under $200. (at that time, what I thought might be a bad MAF, turned out to be a bad ETA). That's why I posted what I did about MAF's. Other parts I probably would wait until they break - but not on something that increased 3 fold within 12 months. |
