ASD problem - does not work at all

The ASD system in my car does not work.

When I turn on the ignition, I can see the triangle warning light in the speedometer light up for 1/10 second, but the ASD warning light in the lower right of the instrument cluster remains dead. Reading fault codes did not work at all.

Anyone know what this could be? When the triangle does light up a split of a second, at least I know that the bulb is not out, but it should stay lit all the time with ignition on and engine not running, and the "ASD" lamp should be lit too..

this sounds like a 4 matic.either the bulb is burned or possibly removed or the bulb check unit is defective.the locking differential is activated from the 4 matic control unit.perhaps this light only comes on when the rear diff is locked or mode3:)

Yeah, but the yellow "!" in the speedometer should still light up with the ignition on if everything is OK..

im sorry i misunderstood.i thought you said you did get a blip of the 4 matic light in the speedo.so i take it the 4 matic fault indicator is not pulsing out a code after ignition?:)

Nope, the warning light in the lower right row in the instrument cluster is always dark, and the "!" in the speedometer only lights up fractions of a second when I turn on the ignition.. :/

When everything is OK, both lights should light up with ignition on, go out when the engine is started, and the the "!" will light up when the system is working, and the warning light in the lower right when there's a malfunction.. :)

I can't get any blink codes either, so I have to check the wiring to the bulb for corrosion now..

ill take a closer look at mine today:)
