Is this diagnostic tool for real?
 
The diagnostic tool that is in this ad looks like some kind of home made tool and looks like a joke.

Oh I know it won't work for my 84's. I have those cars so I wouldn't need any weird diagnostic tools.

Yes, it's home made. I think JimF posted a schematic on how to build it.

It's not a "joke" but a home-brew (h/b) tool for reading DTCs stored in MB cars. A very handy tool to have for the later model MBs.

As Texholdem said, there's a sch and parts list in MENU#2 that shows what you need to build one. Nice tool to find out a direction to go when t/s your car's problems.

The same home-made tool is also available on eBay. You can build your own for a fraction of the cost if you so inclined.

I just built one of those a couple of weeks ago for my 560SL using info from this forum.

I just built one and that fellows price is not bad....the ones on ebay are 2X that price.
