HELP!! w124 leaking EHA valve...???!!!!
 

Hi, new member... new to MB. I have found so much good info here, but having a problem with leaking EHA valve... Tried searching.

Noticed gas dripping from EHA valve, went to junk yard and pulled another. I understand these aren't usually problem parts. Well I installed the "new" valve, still leaking....

So I went and bought new O-rings, the little green ones and installed them. Still leaking. Except this time I can see its leaking from the eyelet between the 2 torx bolts that hold the valve on the fuel distributor.


Now, I somehow find it unlikely, though I know its possible, that both valves are crap, but is it possible I have a bad 02 sensor that is causing this leak?

I'm thinking maybe way too much pressure in the fuel system....?

With the old EHA valve installed I unplugged it while car was running, not much of a change except engine seemed starved for fuel after revving past 3000 rpms in park.

I understand if the 02 sensor is working correctly the car would most likely die upon disconnecting the EHA valve...

Can anyone help me, I absolutely must make some headway on this today.

You need to try another used one OR better yet buy a NEW one.

I sealed one of my leaking EHAs with POR-15 and it has held for 2.5 years. The other leaking one I replaced with a parts car EHA which did not leak.

No, these are indeed usually problem parts.

I reinstalled the original EHA and noticed it's leaking in a different spot than the other used one, so i guess I just have 2 bum valves :mad:

thanks for the replies guys. I'm moving on friday and just, like 20 min ago, spent my whole wad on 1st/security deposit, so I just can't afford the new part right now, I have $150 left to my name

kpb: How does that POR-15 work? Where can I pick it up? How did you apply it? I really just want to stop the leak long enough to move the car, I don't want to risk starting a fire by leaking gas all over the place. If it lasts until I can buy a new EHA, even better. IA, I just used one of the regular rust-killing brush-on coatings, silver actually, which cost 6 or 8 bucks. Clean the EHA really well, which is pretty easy since it has been basking in fuel, dry it well, with an air blast preferably, paint the POR-15 slop on it, I did 3 coats.

Then, the kicker, let dry for at least 6 hours before install. I think I even waited two or three hours between coats and the stuff dries slow. I suppose baking it could speed it up a bit.

When it dries, it's like steel. I have not seen it on the shelf, I've gotten all of mine directly from the maker via their website.

That doesn't help you for moving the car on Friday, sorry. hey, I drove my first one for three months before various passenger complaints about the gas smell made me look for the leak:D

well, bummer... Too bad they don't sell that stuff at autozone....

I now have $100 left to my name.

Went and bought another used one for $50. They gave me a 6mos warranty on it.

Leak fixed. I was surprised that the new EHA didn't change the way the engine ran... I understand these are adjustable parts and they need to be adjusted for the correct fuel mixture?

Oh well, leak fixed, car still runs like crap.

Well, actually, if the EHA is adjusted pretty well, you will see little change when pulling the wire off with the engine fully warm and idling. At least that's my experience. It's designed to tweak the mixture either lean or rich depending on changing conditions and O2 feedback.
