1997 E420 coil packs submerged in oil
All I went to the change my plugs because the check engine light came on. After removing the coil packs, If found that all the plugs in the right bank were practically submerged with oil.
I removed as much oil as I could with a rag and then blew some air into the holes to get the rest out and cleaned it off with brake parts cleaner. I did not change the plugs as I suspected that the valve covers have to come off. After buttoning it up, it still had a miss and the check engine light came on quickly enough so I suspect that i may have hosed the plugs. Does anyone have an idea what happened to cause the oil to seep into the plug holes and how to cure it? Many thanks in advance. |
I looked at the valve cover gasket online and see the problem. I've just ordered a set and will replace them next week.

Just buy new coil packs and plugs. The oil has messed up your plugs and coil packs.
