My 91 350 SDL has plastic headlight assembly shields that are badly scratched. Not an issue for the headlights since they are not covered, but the other lights are dull - and, the front end looks increasingly bad.
Has anyone replaced these? Cost and procedure? Thanks! George Stephenson |
w126 headlights
hi george,
i have a used set [u.s.version]from an early w126. i will make you a good deal on,if you are interested. $45.00 + shipping[for the pair].these are in above average condition. another option,if you want to keep the car for awhile and can get "euro lights",would be an excellent upgrade. e-mail me if interested in my lights,i'll send you a photo. peter |
Those plastic covers are referred to as "headlight doors" and run approximately $80 a side (ripoff). If you really want to clean up the look of your front end get some Euro headlights as Stephenson suggested. You can find a pair new on the web for about $400 shipped (including new turn signals).
Good luck in whatever you decide to do~ Paul |
You can try buffing them outwith a buffer and the proper compound. I have seen an article in a hotrod magazine. The plastic pieces were buffed to remove the yellowish tint and appearnew. Of course the deep scratches will remain but will not be as noticeable.
