190e buzzing behind glovebox
ok, i know it's bad form to make a question post before introducing oneself, but my friend is actually afraid of her mercedes right now, and we need your help.
Quick intro: This username is currently being run by me, a friend of an MB 190 with some surfacing electrical issues. once i solve this issue i'll be turning this account over to them so they can ask and learn about their car, and others like it. so... The car: 1987 MB 190E, 2.6L I6, SRS and DS airbag. The issue: when the key is in the "on" position, there was a clicking noise, or that's wat they describe. what is now there is a rather loud and annoying buzz, like something rotating very quickly and up against something. (roughly equivalent to sticking one's fingers in a fan.) The blower motor seems to work fine, because the fan coes on with the AC, and blows no air in the "off" position, while the sound persists. this stumps e, as what rotates behind the dash besides the blower motor!? I'm not used to working on this type of vehicle, with all these electronic controls, as i drive an 87 Dodge...lol. Any tips and whatnot would be great help, because the owner's mother is adament that it's the speaker, but because you can hear it spin down after keyoff, and if you start the motor, the sound increases in volume and pitch. All for speakers also work, i think, they all pop when you turn off the radio. (her radio won't accept some sort of validation code) So, any ideas? Thanks, Andraous |
