need help replacing glass in w123 wagon
Some bonehead went up and down the street blowing out windows with a pellet gun last night...of course I parked 2 of my cars outside because my mother in law was parked in my space. The 280te lost the tailgate, both rear 1/4 and the rear passenger door glass. The 380 sl lost both door windows and the windshield. Could someone please point me to a tutorial to r&r these windows. I'm sure there are tricks for this and I don't want to do it the hard way. thank you

If you have the CD manual from MBUSA, there are instructions for removing the quarter windows. Here's a link with photos of my removal:
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=201820 If your seal is reusable, don't pull it out of the trim, you can put the new glass in it and insert into the car with a rope and windex. Then use MB sealant between the seal and the window. If you need new seals, there are a few more steps involved to separate the aluminum trim from the painted trim and clamp it back onto the new seal. The windshield and hatch window are similar to the quarter window. The side windows are held in tracks and are easier to replace than the windows that don't open. Once you remove the door panels you can remove the old windows and replace with new glass. Good Luck.:) |
Thank you for directing me to your images. Is it necessary to remove the whole frame (painted & aluminium trim with glass) or can I simply remove the window glass?

If this doesn't make sense, let me know. I took pictures along the way of these steps. I just need to find the good shots and post them if needed. Hope this helps.:) |
