04 CLK wipers do not work properly

Hi all,

The wipers on my 04 CLK do not work properly. My warranty finished last month

If I press the windshield washer button, they do work.

However, if I just try to use the wipers they don't work most of the time(the speed does not matter, they still won't work). Once in a blue moon I will find them working.

Any advice on how I can fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Unlike earlier MB's that system is 100% computer controlled.
ON that 2004 CLK there are several computers involved in wiper operation. Scanning the front signal activation module (SAM) should start a good diagnosis.

Does the hood close properly??

Have you tried pushing on the front of the hood with the wipers on, to see if they will come on?

Yes I did, did not work.

However, if I lift the black handle (that is used to turn the wipers on or off) slightly upwards as I am going to signal a right turn, the wipers would work fine.

If the speed is set to fast for example, they would work at that speed. If the speed is set to medium for example, they would work at that speed and so on.

So it appears to me to be a loose wire ? could it be ?

Thanks in advance.
