Battery discharge help
I am experiencing a battery drain on 1991 190E 2.6. Ive searched the forums and unfornately not too many had solutions.
I measured the draw at the battery by disconnecting the postive lead and connected my multimeter and found out the draw. It was .26 amps. What should the value should be? I then started pulling fuses until I isolated the fuse that was draining the battery. It happens to be fuse #12. How do I go about diagnosing the problem when I have isolated it? forgot to add BRAND NEW battery and the alternator is charging the battery. |
what components are on fuse #12?
|
Anti theft system, central locking system, courtesy lamps, rear reading lamps, power seats
|
Why don't you ...
check all of the functions associated with that fuse for normal operation with ignition on and then off and report back.
|
ok so after looking at the wiring diargams I disconnected 1 by 1 all the power consumers on fuse 12.
antitheft control module central locking supply pump+ground antitheft door switches power seats power seat motors trunk lamp+coutsey lamp checked configuration of radio diode at x42 I had someone crawl in the trunk and i closed it and the light went out as soon I closed it. The aftermarket radio is hooked up right. I cleaned up corrison on some connectors. Still didnt drop the 200ma draw on the battery with the key off. I was going to check the ground connections next. Any other ideas? |
I am guessing if you disconnect the radio the draw will go away.

checked all the grounds at w1 and nothing out of the ordinary. I found a really warm relay which happens to control the power seats. |
