10PA15C vs 10PA17C A/C Compressor
I see that Mercedes upgraded from the 10PA15C to the 10PA17C. Does anyone know if this is a straight replacement.
I've got to replace my 10PA15C in a 92 300D 2.5 and am wondering if anyone has done this swap. Thanks in advance. |
'Denso
On one of the "Jobbers" websites the Two are both options for the 300E.
Ran across this: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/911_Nippondenso_rebuild/911_Nippondenso_rebuild.htm |
Yeap. That's what I saw. I guess I need to call a local place to find out. I'm not sure if the top plate will mount the same?

Ended up just getting the 10PA15C rebuilt.

are they different capacities?
I replaced one on my old SDL a few years back. When I looked it up it seemed the cars with larger motors had the "17" and the diesel and smaller engine cars had the "15". I believe they were different size compressors matched to the load. Anyone know any different?

It's been a couple of years, but my recollection is that the '17 is physically different size than the '15. It won't just bolt in place. Both were used on the OM60x engine line. It may be possible to swap over mounting brackets, but it's also a possibility that the blocks are machined differently, depending on which compressor was to be used. Not sure, haven't thoroughly researched it. In my opinion it's likely to be a nontrivial swap.

The 17 sticks out further than the 15 so you'll have trouble with the belt

Ah ,Ha!
Thanks, Paul!
