-86 190e Fuel pump relay fuse
I've read almost every tread inside the forum concerning the fuel pump relay, but haven't yet found any description where to find the fuse connected to it. Hopefully there is one......
My problem is that I by accident short-cutted the instrument panel and the engine stalled. I could easily start it, it ran for a few seconds and stopped again. Thanks to a lot of post inside this forum I've found out that it's the relay that stops it, so I jumped the 30/87 and the car ran OK. ![]() Before I order a new relay (here in Norway it costs about $500 ![]() -I've already checked all fuses I can find, but everuthing looks fine. The OVP fuse is OK. By the way: My relay has the part no. 001 545 7705. May I use any other relay than this? I'd be very happy if someone can help me with this.... Best regards Frode G. |

That system is not fused.
That relay may be repairable. simply remove the outer plastic cover & look at the circuit board where the relay is soldered to the board.

No visible defects
Thank you very much for the answer.
I've just opened the relay and I'm not able to find any burnt or suspicious looking parts. Any specific parts that should be checked? Is there a way to test the relay outside of the car? The problem is anyhow reduced since I've tracked a used one for less than $100, but still.... Best regards. Frode

Replaced the FPR, but the problem is the same.
-Starts and stalls after a few seconds. Works fine when jumping the FPR, so it must be something controlling the FPR that's broken. Somebody got an idea where to search...? ![]()

Since nobody else knows.....
Now I've jumped the FPR with a fuse and a switch, and probably tomorrom I'll change the switch with a relay connected to something starting on the second step of the ignition key. And that's solving most of my sorrows; the car now starts and runs without any problems as long as I start the fuel-pump...
![]() For me it's most likely that there's no tention to the connector no 15 on the FPR, and therefore the relay will not start the pump. ![]() This might be the result of a broken OVP-relay. The ground should come from here, and the black/red cable goes through OVP to ground. -If this seems like a logical conclusion please let me know, before I buy more useless spare parts.... ![]()
