Question about the 2.6 liter six cylinder

Question about 2.6 in a W124.

Anybody have any experience with the 2.6 liter inline six used in the W124 in 1991. I'm assuming this was the same engine used in the 190E 2.6 etc. I'm considering a 300E 2.6, which would have been called a 260E everywhere else on the planet. I'm interested in any reliablity issues, known problems etc. Any insight is appreciated.

I've owned a 190e 2.6 since 1991 and have found this to be a reliable and smooth engine. Other than 3000 mile oil and filter changes, the only engine work I have done since aquiring the car at 95k miles is:

Replace distributor cap, rotor, wires and plugs to cure a missfire. While I was in there I replaced the cam seal, and the timing cover seal to cure a minor oil leak.

One injector went bad, so I replaced them all.

Car now has over 151k miles and runs great.

Indeed it was called a 260E in the U.S. from 87 to 89, then 300E 2.6 from 90 to 92. Fine engine if you can live with the power output.
