Volvo newsgroups as instructive as this one
Given Mercedes's and Volvo's shared interest in safety (as well as durability, and probably a few more points) I guess at least a few of you have an interest in that other brand as well, and may also have some good related newsgroups to share.
I am specifically looking for information on each model/year's strengths and weaknesses, tips, etc. such as can be found here.

I have owned a 1995 Vovlo 850, 5 speed for the last 3+years and have found volvospeed.com to be a great resource.
I seems that all cars have there strong points and weak points. The biggest drawback to the 850, and possibly other models, is the lack of parts availability for the transmissions. Basically, no internal parts can be found. They also have evaporator problems that involve complete dash removal the same as the MB. The Volvo continues to amaze me for mileage and the amount of 'stuff' that can be fit into the 4 door sedan. The back of the front passenger seat will fold forward and provide a flat surface from the dash all the way to the back of the car (rear seat back also folds flat). |
