Like all computer controlled systems you need to have codes READ.
M.B. Doc, I'm having the same problem as Boombang. What do you mean "need to have codes READ?". Thanks.
MB's laptop scanner can read error codes on sub-systems.
So it sounds like I have to take my car to MB to have the codes read? And ASR is related to the acceleration problem?
Not necessarily - depends on the model and year. Tell us what car you have.

Your car is OBDII, so many of the codes can be read with an OBDII code reader, available just about anywhere for $50 to $150. Or you can go to Autozone and they will read the OBDII codes for free. More costly and sophisticated systems are available for the DIYer but for occasion use you're probably better off going to the dealer or a good independent shop. But reading the OBDII codes is the place to start.
