Cheap part, unworthy of a $50K car
I just replaced the door pins of my sister-in-law's 2005 CLK 350. The original pins and rings are some cheap plastic parts, unworthy of a $50K car. The pins look and feel like a sheetrock wall anchor of the worst kind. Production cost maybe 10 cents or less.
What a different the chrome pins and rings make.

Mostly they look tacky--the chrome ones, that is.

If it helps to know you are not alone with this sort of sentiment,...the wiring harnesses in some of the 124's & 140's aren't worthy of a $40k+ car, but Benz used them anyway, and to add insult to injury, denied there is anything wrong with them.

Yeah, I've heard that the 0-60 performance goes way up when the chrome ones are installed. The car even handles better!!! Sorry Tex, I couldn't resist. |
