Cheap part, unworthy of a $50K car

I just replaced the door pins of my sister-in-law's 2005 CLK 350. The original pins and rings are some cheap plastic parts, unworthy of a $50K car. The pins look and feel like a sheetrock wall anchor of the worst kind. Production cost maybe 10 cents or less.

What a different the chrome pins and rings make.

Mostly they look tacky--the chrome ones, that is.

If it helps to know you are not alone with this sort of sentiment,...the wiring harnesses in some of the 124's & 140's aren't worthy of a $40k+ car, but Benz used them anyway, and to add insult to injury, denied there is anything wrong with them.

Can you believe that the J.D. Power's survey missed this?

Yeah, I've heard that the 0-60 performance goes way up when the chrome ones are installed. The car even handles better!!!

Sorry Tex, I couldn't resist.
