Back of seat cargo net

Anyone know of a affordable replacement for the elastic string cargo net mounted on the backs of the front seats?

Thanks.

The lax elastic can be easily replaced by removing the seat back and then removing he trim that holds the net in place. The netting is a dealership item, however the elastic cord can also be sourced through dry goods stores, hobby and craft outlets.

Another alternative using dry goods store hardware is to use a "toggle" on the cord. Toggles are the plastic devices found on the drawstrings of jackets and duffle bags.

I replaced my elastic cord with tent/tarp hold down ties. These were at Lowes. They are a an elastic loop with a blue ball on the ends and are about 6-8 inches length of loop. Dis assembled(cut the ball off) I used the stops (metal parts)from the original cord. Stretched the new cord, cut off the excess, clamped on the stops and VOILA New tight netting! Cost was about $3.00 and the package has 4 or 6 ties in it. Fixed both seat nets and have spares.

There's a DIY article on 190 revolution that tells you how to re-stretch the old netting for $0 :)

Yeah! But....(Do Yeah Buts gots ears like rabbits?) all you get us a great looking net and NO functionality due to the lost elasticity of the top cord. I tried that first and decided not to go halfway. Mine look great and they work great too.

Vintage thread revival!

Am happy to report Lowes still carries these "Light Duty Canopy Ties" Item #: 107734 | Model #: JB3V430. After years of being frustrated that Joann's only sold stretch cord in bulk (according to online searching) I decided to try the bungee cord aisle at the big box store. No idea why my many previous searches never turned up this thread. Oh well, finally fixed...
