89 300e how do I pull the fault codes?

I have an 89 300e (not a california version) and wanted to find out how to read the codes from this car. I did research this and found Arthurs code reader circuit layout, also found the manual for the CS1000 that lists the connections points and indentifies the codes.

Looking under the hood I was able to find the test point just in front of the battery. It is an 8 pin model however, it looks like only pins 1, 6 and 7 have wires going to them.

Is there a different connection point for this car?

Thanks,

Sam

Here's an 8 pin article that may be helpful - http://home.comcast.net/~chwilka/Error_Code%20_reader_reset_tool.htm

So it looks like this circuit design uses 2 leads instead of 3. Have you used this design to read the codes on a w124?

You do not have Cal emmissions, so you do not have CIS code retrieve
[ socket #3]
That was not until 1990 on 124.030

You can go to 6 and 7 by using1 for ground of the tool , red of tool to bat +, and odd to the pin# ..but I think you want engine management codes , which your year does not have. [ only Cal]

Thank you for the clarification.

I built a code reader and it functions well. What is the sequence to clear the codes? Comments appreciated.
