Blower Motor Replacement 95 E320 Wagon W124 with pollen filter
 

Has anyone replaced the blower motor for W124's (95 E320 Wagon) equipped w/ pollen filter? Is it much more difficult than the one w/o the filter?

Thank you, whunter. In fact I spent almost all day on 05/10 (Sat) to remove the blower motor. And, I did it! Now, are there any differences on the motor itself w/ or w/o pollen filter? I removed the squirrel cages and if I want to replace the motor only. Do I have to get a motor for "w/ pollen filter"? Or, a motor "w/o pollen filter" compatible?

leesan, I believe the pollen filter (cabin air filter) is standard on the face-lifted W124 E-Class, i.e. 94 & 95 model years, and it is not available in earlier years. So as long as you purchase the blower motor based on your car's model year (VIN is best), it should work.

But, that does not answer his question, and I can't answer it either. The "squirrel cages" for the no cabin filter setup are smaller (in both diameter and length) than the "squirrel cages" for the with cabin filter setup. Gsxr documented that.

I don't know if the diameter of the rod the "squirrel cage" is pressed on is the same the both model blower motors. I recently replaced the blower in my 300TE, and the diameter of that rod is 8mm, the distance from the outer end of the left rod to the outer end of the right rod is approx. 220mm, and the diameter of the motor body is 73mm.

Thank you for both of you, whunter and ds109. I will check the motor's demention at the time of order. I could not replace brushes. Nobody carries it in this area (Monterey, CA). I took the motor to the company who will rebuilt ANY motors. I was told that this motor was pretty much done so order new one. His price was $295, just for the motor. I found a motor at Autopartswarehouse, $83.95. W/ addition of shipping and handling, total will be $95.??. See if the motor they sell matches w/ the motor I just took out.
