Year 2000 C230 Dust filter Location?

Anyone knows where is the MB C230 model year 2000 pollen filter is located??

mbdoc 05-21-2008 03:40 PM

under the passenger under-dash panel next to the blower motor.

Thank you!!!!

Take care when sliding the plastic clips that secure the filter door . . . I had one fly off and land behind the passenger floor reinforcement . . . PIA. ;)

Paul111 05-21-2008 05:43 PM

Hm. I did not find it! Under the dash there are a plastic coves with some holes Three screws are holding that and I took it off. Above there is wiring only, surely no place for pollen filter! I was thinking that perhaps either behind the glove box or under the hood at the left side behind the firewall in the box that has all the diagrams?

MTI 05-21-2008 05:54 PM

The pollen filter compartment is narrow rectangular box, located to the left of the blower housing. The sliding clips that I spoke of fasten the access door to the filter.

I am completely lost! I took off the cover under the glove compartment. There is no access there to anywhere, only wiring. I see absolutely nothing there (inside on the passenger side). I cannot figure it out where is the blower unfortunately. The part what I mentioned under the hood not likely to contains the filter and you are mentioning inside the car as well. Should I take off the glove compartment box? Please be kind and explain it more where the filter housing is. Thank you!

I am going to take a wild guess that you are removing the cover to the right of the passengers feet instead of the one above the passengers feet. It is the latter that you need to remove. Then you should see it there with the white clips mentioned.

Paul111 05-21-2008 07:10 PM

I am going to remove the right side pannel at tthe passenger feet. Let you knowwhat I have found!

Paul111 05-21-2008 07:18 PM

Actually there is a speaker only. It is not need to try removing the panel. I see the diagram but I am going crazy, where is the darn thin located. Behind the firewall at the left hand side there is a box. That box has all the diagram stickers and also the sticker which says "Battery in Trunk". But I am even reluctant to open it since it does not show air hose. I tried to listen where is the blower motor but the thing is so quiet that I cannot locate it. I understand the diagram, Thank you for it! – but I cannot locate the unit.

Its where MBDOC said it was. On mine the clips holding the door shut are white.

MTI 05-21-2008 07:48 PM

Just to be clear . . . it's inside the cabin, not under the hood; front passenger side; accessed by removing (held in by screws) the under dash panel, which is below the glove box.

Thank you Everyone!!!!!! I took off the panel and the clue The clue “white” was really because I was started to look after the “white clip”. I changed the filter (it is not easy, since not too comfortable kneeling next to the car on the cement, - being old too) at the first time (the old filter was very clean) even though the car is a 2000 model, - It has only 6000 miles garaged and covered, never saw rain nor much sun (living in Southern California). All service done by me, 14 times changed the oil (Mobil 1 Synthetic 15W-50) and annually the coolant (Mercedes original). I bought this car as a “spare”. Again: Thank you everyone!!!
