parking brake
I did my brakes today. Rotors, pads, etc. I bought the parking brake kit from Phil, but everything looked pretty good. I was glad, because I couldn't figure out how to replace the parking brake parts with the hub in the way. How did you do it?

The parking brake shoes are replaced with the hub in place by removing and installing the the hold down springs through the round holes. Just rotate the hub until the hold down springs are accessible through the holes.
I use the special Mercedes T style hold down spring tool and also the separate Mercedes spring pulling tool. Makes life much easier! Hope this helps. |
To get to my seized parking brake adjusters, I had to remove the rear rotors. Of course they were both stuck to the hubs.
Here's what worked for me:

I am busy replacing the parking brake shoes on my 1991 300CE and I am having a hard time getting the return spring hooked in behind the shoes. (Thats the spring where the adjuster is - hope I have called the parts by the right name) Anyone have any ideas as to how to get this spring hooked in with less trouble?
