2004 Sl500 Distronic Cruise Control
 

I love the Distronic cruise control on my 2004 SL500, on my last trip it went in-operative 3 times on a a 120 mile trip, the first time I shut it down, got out and cleanded the "star eye" and restarted and it worked find, I thought it might just be dirty, it happened 15 miles later and I just pulled over and turned the car off and restared and all went fine for another 30 miles then same thing, restart and no problems for the rest of the trip, any ideas ?

Possibly a stored code in the distronic system?

Are all of the tires in the same condition?

how can I clear any stored codes ? I have all the same tires size and type

Has the Car been ALIGNED as when a Distronic MB is aligned they adjust the radar sensor..The sensor could be out of alignment and if NOT centered the radar could sense a car in the next lane to close...I Have seen this before

The Distronic system is very simple I retrofitted it to our 211 and 209


Stored Codes can only be removed via a Code reader aka Star SDS

I would think if it was reading a car too close it would either brake or dis-engage and then be able to reset, the problem I am having is it would go totally inopeative until I pulled over and restarted the car
