2003 E320 Rear Brakes

I am trying to change Rear Brake pads on My 2003 Mercedes E320 and cannot get the allen head bolts out. I believe these are a 5MM hex but cannot see them clearly. I have also been cautioned about the brake system on this car, but not been given specifics of what to watch for. Once I have the pins removed is there anything unusual about this pad change?

Thanks
David

Are You Sure that you are talking about the REAR BRAKES?

As the fronts have that set up...while the rear s are pins only on the W210

Definately Rear brakes and have the emergency brake cable setup

The Rear brake pads are held in with Pins..NO Bolts are required to replace the pads

Isn't his car a W211?

David3benz 06-06-2008 11:19 PM

Yes, This is a W211 ( 2003 ) E320. I have been told that I need to deactivate the SBC (which I don't know what that is ) with an SDS (which I also don't know what this is) Any help is appreciated
Thanks
David

Search first.

SDS is MB's laptop scanner.

I dont follow W211's and don't know if that is the only way to deactivate or not.

SBC is Sensotronic Braking. If you have it, DO NOT TOUCH THE PADS until it is disabled. You could be hurt or even killed.

SBC cars are easy to work on the brake system...IF you

1 Shut it off via the Mercedes Benz SDS aka star

or

2 Unplug the SBC pump

0r

3 Lock the car and DO NOT open ANY Doors while working on the SBC brakes
if you do the SBC pump WILL operate and it WILL cause the brakes to prime

If You are Not Sure about the Brake system PLEASE have a Tech do it for you
