W126 Limo , FActory made
of late 1980's, original 30k's owned by texas oil tycoon, beautiful, any remarks ? anyone know anything about these ? its in Maryland now
|
You need the vin to know what it is. AFAIK MB never made any factory limo's. I don't even know if they made any Guard W126's.
Except for the 600 series.:D |

Well, what the heck
But didn't you just answer your question. If it is shipped as a Mercedes to another factory, then it is not Mercedes factory built, just like Cadillac and Lincoln have other manufacturers build limos from their cars. Looks pretty simple too me, and I only drive one also.

Model? Pics? If it's local I'd like to see it.

true but there were also factory ones i heard about, nothing can be compared to factory made one though, you understand me? |
Wasn't the Pullman a factory limo? Certainly not as long as modern limos, but pretty long. And extremely expensive, both to buy new and to maintain.
|
Looks good. Its possible they made them, I really dont know for sure, one look underneath should be able to tell you though, whether parts were factory made for the stretch section or fabricated. What is its VIN? That should be a clue as well.

AMG was aftermarket until what date? Lets test YOUR knowledge.:D Don't pick a MB fight with me friend, I have been doing this a long time, and have owned more than whats in my sig.;) Without the vin this thread is useless because we don't know anything about that car. |

I beleive they made W140 guard cars and slightly stretched versions of that, but I am not sure of the W126. John has a nice W126 limo but its was done by who a Dutchlet(sp?) |
who here has w126 limo???? i think its factory mercedes made
|
It's me. Mine is a modified LWB 126 by Carat-Duchatelet in Belgium. I do all my bodywork with a 4lb hammer :D Our bodyshop manager is a good friend of mine and can refer you to some places that know their stuff.

Texas oil tycoon or rich saudi oil sheik.. its always one of the two that has a w126 limo... Another thing, sedans were marked as "Limo's" in Europe since they don't use the word sedan. |
Armored W126s
Quote:
The last 600s were made in, I believe, 1981, at which time the W126 was inproduction. Their was no regular "Guards option" for the W126, BUT the factory DID build the equivalent. Anyone wanting to know what they looked like should search "Saddam W126" or equivalent until the threads come up here or on Benzworld. Saddam had 3 white 1988 560SEL ones he'd ordered from the factory in Germany. they had armor plating, reinforced windows and other things. When he travelled, all three would travel together, and they had identical license plates, and were constantly shuffled around in the convoy so assassins could not figure which one Saddam was riding in. I saw a video of one such convoy in action One of the cars is located in Hartford Connecticut where the owner recently tried to sell it for a million dollars. He was a US soldier who bought it for $5500 in Baghdad and illegally imported it through Portugal to the USA where the EPA DOT impounded it, but eventually released it (The way the question got asked was I think, kind of arrogant and retarded.) That is why I refuse to search up and post the links. |

Jim B. you know what you talking about, well the MD limo is of late 1980's and is 560SEL aswell, altough there is no badge , so it was probably cousin to the ones Saddam had. |
where can i see the picture of that saddams limo?
