Purge Valve? CEL PO410 '99 S500
When cranking cold auto (set overnite) auto starts up with no problem and runs smooth. After 17 to 20 seconds purge valve MOT starts to pulsate auto continues to run smooth. As fan engages on again off again still no problem.
After another 3 to 5 minutes purge valve winds down and stops fans engage and engine starts to stutter engine does not run as smooth. This happens on again off again until you feel and hear the slight ticking and pulsating of thepurge valve. Cel comes on during engine stutter code po410. After another 3 to 5 minutes the purge valve is fully operating again and the auto smooths out. Code can be reset and engines runs all day fine with no CEL. Cycle starts all over again the next day. My question is could I have a purge valve that is sporadic needing a good cleanout which is causing the problem? Last edited by MBD; 06-09-2008 at 01:40 PM. |

Isn't a 0410 an air injection problem?

Yep.
The motor he hears running is the electric air pump motor to provide air for the secondary air injection system. A search on P0410 will yield lots of info.
