E500 station wagon question.
 

Does anyone know if Mercedes ever made a E500 wagon that wasn't 4-matic ? I have been looking and have never seen one without it.

I have all the brochures and ...
 

it appears that the answer to your question is no.

The current body style, from 2004 onward: The E500 wagons were only built as 4Matic wagons, and have since been discontinued. They were my favorite car, with full leather as std and air suspension; set the shocks on FIRM and go with 302 HP.

Thanks,,,, I have always wanted a V8 wagon and would consider one, even with the issues that seem to surround the recent years.

The 2005 E55 Wagon is NOT 4matic as I recall.

The E55 and E63 wagons have no 4 matic...


The newer 4 matic systems work really well.... What is worrying you?

The older 4-matics worked really well too when they were new 4-matics.

You're talking USA specs, of course.

You can get anything with or without 4Matic in Europe, more or less. Diesels, V8s, V6s, etc. Maybe the 4-cylinder models not available with 4Matic, but who cares?

I don't want the extra weight of the system Justin. I have never had problems in the snow with any of our Benzes, and would just like a V8 without all the extra weight and horsepower robbing crap.

I dislike AWD because you can't put the tail out, and it kills fuel mileage.

Solution! Buy an E55 wagon!:D

The 4matic systems on new W124s were a complete fiasco!

They gave problems from mile 1. You were lucky if the system reached 1,000 miles without a glitch.

Of course, the scenario gets worse as the system ages and the car accumulates miles.
