95 e320 wagon. Outside temp display is too low

Hello all,

The outside temp display for our wagon is around 20-30 degrees off (too low). This happened after the mechanic steam cleaned (maybe pressure washed) the motor. It looks like some off the paint was washed off the probe. Any tricks to fix it, or do I need to buy a new probe?
