Talking Great eBay score!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&item=370055119598

Just picked up what appears to be a complete Mercedes microfiche service set. The listing said if was for the 70s to the 90s. It is actually from the 50s to the 90s and appears to have everything!! Even the service manuals for the 300SL Gullwing. The last update appears to have been added in September 1991. If I never buy another Mercedes made after that then I'll be set for life. The entire set with shipping was under $60!

I also just happen to have a surplus microfiche reader a local government chucked. All I had to do was change the bulb.

I would get a decent scanner and start making pdf docs of the films. This way you can save the original films but still get to the data.

You need a 10mm lens for the fiche reader to get better than 32x magnification.
The older films will be scratched a bit and the contrast will be poor.

However, they should be servicable, so to speak.

I have PC70 Canon Microfiche Reader/Printer sitting in my basement and collecting dust. Used it a few times to print W140 fiches. Did not use it since 2002 or so after getting WIS.
If anybody interested please make me an offer. Pick up in NY.
Mike
