Motor Oil
I've been using Castrol GTX 20-50 in my 92 300E for the past eight years. I always used it in the diesels that I previously owned. My local independent MB shop uses it for a major number of the MB that they service. I live in eastern NC and the temps aren't severe in the winter and it does get HOT/WARM in the summer.
My 92 has 110k actual miles and I've been the second owner for the last eight years. She does not use oil and I'm skeptic about going to a lighter weight or changing brands for that reason. Tarheel75 92 300E "Black Pearl" |
Was this supposed to be a question? or just info?

Motor Oil
You got me on this one. I should have phrased this as a question. Should I be using a lighter oil for these climate conditions?

IMO opinion, 15 or 20/50 is appropriate for the hottest, most arid summer regions.
In NA and Euro its hard to beat 0W or 5W/40. Go to Mobil's site and look at a temp service chart. |
I would stick with your 2050.
