R16 resistor in a 300SE

Pulled the thing and drove 500 miles.

No difference in power.

Car returned 20mpg, which included 2-3 hours of stop and go traffic (I love the 495!), and highway cruise between 70-90.

Same as always.

Did not expect a change.. just reporting my findings.

Same apparant results on my '91. I tried pulling it a few years back, and saw no noticeable change. So, I put it back. These days I've been running a few tanks of regular gas - absolutely no ping, and the engine actually starts and idles better after a hot start.

what kind of mileage does your car return?

I always see a difference on the dyno...typically a few HP, which no seat of pants dyno will pick up.

3 degrees initial timing is so FAR from ideal it's sad..12-13 makes for Much better combustion...even the WIS makes mention of the fact.
