blower motor
1993 sel 500
blower motor got a bit squeaky then died. it came back on after cooling off, now its dead again. any ideas???/ |
"Squeaky" usually implies metal on metal - the kind you might find in a bearing.
See if you can access the fan, and try to turn the squirrel cage - if it gives you resistance, or if it feels like it is grinding, you have found your (pricey) problem. |
thanks..i opened it up and found the motor very stiff. it came on again but died later.
so new motor???? |

I have never heard of soaking in Bio Diesel, but lubricating the shaft with ATF has done the trick for me. There were some comments on the MB club website that warned about oil as it scould dissolve the insulation on the motor wires. As to your other question the blower is a "press on" and there have been warnings about breakage when removing. I would try penetrating oil, and a lot of patience. I also do not recall any clips
