Ac, 94 E320

I own a 94 E320. No matter how cold the outside temp is, at a setting of 75F on the internal temp. dial, the AC used to blow. Lately it used to cycle on and off every 5-10 sec -- intermittently. Now it wont work any more. Smythe European, in San Jose CA wont see it for another 3 weeks. I am thinking of taking it to AAA repair facility.

Does anyone have any idea what was happening? I should say that I did notice some low freon and tried charging it. Did not do much, if anything, killed the AC sooner!!

Is there a thermostat I need to change? The car seems to have many.

How do I get a hold of a service manual for the car?

Thanks

If your level gets low the compressor will kick on and off until it nolonger kicks on(safety feature). try getting a recharge.

Thanks very much for the replies. I am not sure if I can smell freon-- sometimes some smell did come in but am not sure what is is/was.

I did take it to AAA who told me the pressures were OK, in fact high (I probably overfilled it). However, the cooling fans were not working and there was no power to them. They could not get a schematic for the wiring diagram for the car!!!

So I drove it to the dealership and am praying my extended warranty covers the costs!!!!!

Most extended warranties cover everything but the freon and then they might if it had a leak that needed to be fixed. What I mean is if it took 5 years before a recharge and there was no sign of a leak, you pay. If a hose blew and was replaced then they will probably pay for freon. Since you have freon, they will fix.
