E240 M112911 suddenly died
Good day everybody,
Yesterday my model year 2000 died at a red light. Little later I restarted the engine and the car ran fine. This morning same thing at a traffic light (engine at operatingt temp.) Took it to an independent shop an they pulled a P0173 fault code. Any ideas and help are greaty appriciated! Reinhard, Vienna, Austria |
I think P0173 is a fuel enrich or too lean limit at idle or partial load fault code if I recall, but chances are your L5 crankshaft position sensor is on its way out. Do you have to wait awhile to restart or does it start again right away?

Actually, engine restarted after cranking longer than usual, possibly 20 secs.

Today engine died while coasting. No codes thrown. Ordered MAF-hope that will fix it! Anybody knows if those cars had OVPs???

Good day,
Replaced AMM (orig. BOSCH). Today same thing happened. Engine just died. Had to start for quite some time. Suddenly she fired up and ran normally. Any suggestions where to go from here? Thanks, Reinhard |

Do a search on the forum for this part and you will find many owners with the same symptoms. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...Sensor300E.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...0100664HEL.jpg |
Thank you Johnhef and slk230red it was CPS! Why in the world did we do all the testing with the 173 fault code.
Have a great day everybody:) Reinhard |
