dash lights stay on

Here is a weird one:

the lights in the rear headrest switch, around the shifter and the rear dome light NEVER go off, even if the key is out of the ignition.

any idea what be causing this?

has to be feedback thru 1 of the switches. Possibly the hazzard switch, have you tried disconnecting any of the lighted items to see if that was causing the feedback.

thanks. no i have not tried that since i gather i have to remove the trim panel and all that, until i had a clue as to what to do. Right now i just pulled the fuse. I had my mech look at it yesterday while the car was in for another problem, and suspects it might be the light control relay because there are a couple of other weird things (the left standing light function does not work, etc). but that is about $300 to replace so i might try what you suggest first.

tried changing the lighting level to no effect.

what do you think of the possibility that the light control module is the problem?

i pulled each switch, including the hazard to no effect whatsoever. I did not actually disconnect each switch socket as I did not have the time. I did jiggle the wires that go into the socket. no effect.

here is another thing: i now notice that when i put the fuse back in, and then turn on the radio (which is on the same fuse), that there in electrical pop when turning the radio on and off coming through the speakers that was not there before. this suggests perhaps a grounding issue?

btw, that fuse is always live (ie, small sparks occur whenever i take the fuse in and out of the clips), even if the key is removed from the ignition. i know that might be normal as the radio needs a trickle of charge as might the rear light switch.
