E320 bulb replacement
 

I'm humbled to be asking this but...
How do I get to the rear license plate bulbs on a '99 E320?
I removed the trim piece but did not see an obvious way of removing the lens.
Do I have to go in through the interior of the trunk? Remove the inside panel?

Also, is the instrument cluster removed as in a 560? Pull straight back to remove and get at the instrument bulbs?

Yes. Remove the trunk liner.
Yes. Put the steering wheel all the way down and back first, and don't turn the key on with the cluster wires disconnected.
