16 oil pump housing

Recently I have seen the oil pump outer housing on a 16V suffer damage from a loose chain which resulted from failed timing chain guides. It appears that the now loose chain pretty much sawed through about 2/3's of an external pump housing buttress (wraps around the pump drive gear assembly). We are going to magnaflux the housing, to make sure there is no cracking into the actual oil pump outer case.

does anyone know if it is alright to reuse this damged oil pump cover/housing, or if there will be inherent problems in doing so..assuming a successfull magnaflux. ?

Is this outer case the same for 16V motors as 8V motors?

If "NO" to both the the above, price and availability for new replacements?\

Have two cars in the same shop with almost identical symptoms
